Internship: Montessori Teaching
Project Location: Bangalore city, India
Project length: Minimum 2 weeks to 4 weeks until 12 months
Start Dates: placement available from June to March, since the academic year of Indian schools is from June to March. April and May will be summer holiday for the schools.
Aim: practice Montessori method and procedures with the guidance and leadership of a more experienced Montessori teachers.
Open to: no qualification is needed, open to anyone, who has a genuine interest in learning Montessori method.
Number of Participants: Up to 15 international volunteers
Age: 17 years old and older
Age Exceptions: This project accepts volunteers who are 17 years old and younger with a letter of consent from a parent or guardian
Important: even though you are qualified and eligible to get a monthly stipend, we will not be able to afford to pay stipend as we are not a funded organization. So,you will still have to pay a fee.
Visa: Must apply at least before 2-3 months advance, as Visa processing takes longer than expected time.
Montessori School of Kenosis welcomes all to volunteer their time and talent in a variety of capacities. Volunteering is a valued contribution to the child’s school, forges bonds among school families, and provides a meaningful and useful outlet for families to give back to the children we work in disadvantaged schools, kindergarten, and day care centres. There are many ways that solo, group, and families are able to volunteer at Kenosis. Keep in mind; you are going to make a huge difference in the lives of children in need as you impact your learning skills by practicing what you studied in the classrooms. The field program is where you test yourself, gather information, develop and improve your skills and finally boost your CV to become a professional teacher. Kenosis is the right place to invest your time and skills to impact yourself as you impact the project we work in India.
Especially, the trained Montessori Teachers or students, it's an ample and excellent opportunity to practice Montessori Method and Procedures with the guidance and leadership of a more experienced Montessori teacher (directories). Through this shared practice and guidance, the intern or volunteer gains experience and demonstrates increased competency as a Montessori teacher. You can choose the following areas to work with children:
Infant/Toddler Montessori: 0-3 years
Early Childhood: 3-6
Lower elementary: 6-9
Lower elementary: 9-12
Highlights of Montessori Teaching Internship in India:
Prepare and maintain a beautiful, develop mentally-appropriate classroom environment
Serve as a guide between the child and the prepared environment
Present Montessori materials and lessons to the children, demonstrating proper Montessori principles
Provide children with opportunities for choice, decision making, problem solving, independence, and responsibility
Plan and implement group activities
Effectively communicate with children and parents
Work as a team member with other Montessori teachers
Actively observe individual children, analyzing and documenting individual growth and learning, evaluating objectives and helping to prepare professional reports
Attend and participate in parent-teacher conferences
Actively participate in self-evaluation and shared inquiry with the master teacher
Duration of the internship is 4 to 6 months

Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process.
Location of internship in India depends on the vacancy of the application and agreement between participant and organizers: Bangalore, Karnataka State and Tamilnadu State.
